An emergency call came in around 9:00 p.m. Sunday, May 4th from Steve Woods at Alltel. Steve stated that a tornado had destroyed their Central Office and they needed a digital trailer with an RLS-4000 switch. Falcon's President, Don Cook, and Senior Vice President, Steve Michel, started putting the plan together and calling in several of the Falcon team that evening to begin the process of getting service restored for Alltel.
Since none of Falcon's trailers were equipped with an RLS-4000 switch, the trailer's DMS-10 switch was removed and a complete RLS-4000 remote switch with 3900 lines, wired for 4050 lines, and all the necessary vendor equipment (GoDigital, Fiber Mux, UMCC 1000, Loop treatment, etc.) was installed to support the town of Stockton and surrounding area that was destroyed by the tornado. The trailer was completed at 10:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6th, and delivered on-site to Alltel at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 7th. The switch was turned up and dial tone was ready for customers just before midnight on May 7th.
As a company our heart goes out to all the families struck by this tragedy. We also express sincere thanks and appreciation to our Falcon team who worked diligently, non-stop to get the trailer setup on-site for Alltel in 56 hours, and in-service 74 hours from the initial emergency phone call. Your dedication provided a much needed service and made this project successful. Congratulations on a job well done.
